NEDC Supports Vulnerable Communities in Bauchi with Food and Fertilizer Distribution

In a significant move to alleviate hunger and support vulnerable families, the North East Development Commission (NEDC) has distributed approximately 1,000 bags of maize flour and 5,000 bags of NPK fertilizer to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and farmers across Bauchi State. This initiative, aimed at improving the livelihoods of residents, was announced during a distribution exercise held on Friday in Bauchi. The NEDC Bauchi State Coordinator, Alhaji Aliyu Isiyaku, highlighted that the distribution of maize flour was specifically targeted at cushioning the hardships faced by vulnerable households. Isiyaku noted that since the beginning of this season, the NEDC has facilitated the distribution of fertilizer to trusted associations for onward distribution to community members, while some quantities were handed directly to farmers. He remarked, "During the rainy season, there is hardly any input more important to a farmer than fertilizer. It is critical to achieving good yields, and we therefore hope for an abundant harvest."
